Southern Magnolia, Magnolia grandiflora

Southern Magnolias are an iconic tree of the Southern and Southeastern regions of the U.S. Their large white flowers are unlike any other, and produce a nice fragrant scent when in bloom.

The below photos were taken during a stroll in Magnolia Cemetery in Augusta, Georgia. Magnolia Cemetery has a very nice collection of older Southern Magnolia trees, so it makes for a very scenic and peaceful walking destination. Unfortunately the flowers were not in bloom that day, as the blooming season had past (May-July).
