I built this tool cabinet/shelving system in early 2025, as I wanted to have a place to easily access my most used and most valuable tools. There are so many tools used in violinmaking, and woodworking in general, that it can become a challenge staying organized. I like to collect various tools as well as they make certain tasks both easier and more enjoyable. The most time-consuming task in building this was preparing the wood, as the hard curly maple used took a significant amount of time to properly finish. First the wood was sanded and/or planed, and then scraped to remove blemishes and to achieve the greatest clarity in the grain. Below are pictures of it before it was completely finished, but these are the best photos I have, as I had to move out of this workshop, dissemble it, and salvage the wood.
